# 📐 Lineup & Tactics

Two things decide how your team plays on match day: your lineup and your tactics.

### Lineup

**Squad quality** at the top of the Lineup page is the average ability of the eleven players you pick.

Choose one of **10 formations**:

4-4-2 · 4-3-3 · 3-5-2 · 5-3-2 · 3-6-1 · 3-4-3 · 4-5-1 · 4-2-3-1 · 4-1-4-1 · 4-2-2-2

Then fill the pitch. **Auto-pick** puts your best eleven in place and the rest on the bench, or click any spot to choose a player yourself. Hit **Save** and your lineup is ready.

### Tactics

* **Team Strategy:** your overall balance, from Ultra Defensive to Ultra Offensive.
* **Ball Movement:** how you build up play: short passing, a mix, or long balls.
* **Attack Focus:** where your attacks go.
* **Set pieces:** choose your Free Kick, Penalty, Left Corner, Right Corner and Long Throw takers, or let the game pick them for you.

Save your tactics and you're ready to play.

> **Tip:** friendlies are free, so they're the best place to test a new formation or strategy before a league or Underground match.
